Had such a huge response from Malta when the Times of Malta published this website address that I thought it best to create a new page for the Aircraft Photographs.
Commemorative '40 Years of Service' Nimrod Print Available
RAF Kinloss is making available a commemorative print to mark over 40 years service and the end of the Nimrod MR2. It is being produced by Squadron Prints and is comprised of the heraldic crests for 42, 120, 201, 203 and 206 Sqns, 236 OCU, and the Nimrod Major Servicing Unit (NMSU), with the Stn crests of Kinloss, St Mawgan and Luqa across the top of the print.
It features 4 aircraft:
1. A grey and white MR1.
2. A hemp MR2 with refuelling probe, hi-vis markings, Sidewinder missiles, no wing tip pods, as during Op Corporate.
3. A hemp MR2 with refuelling probe, yellowgate pods, lo-vis markings and Boz pods.
4. XV 226 in grey 40th anniversary colour scheme with Terma pod.
Profits from the print will be donated to charity, and the print is intended to pay tribute to those who flew, maintained or supported the aircraft and her crews throughout her service. Pat has sent me a large collection of photographs from the Air Museum in Malta. Many of the photos will be of familiar aircraft but feel free to send me and update to include in any that are not identified.

Some of these photos were taken from the tower when Jim went to work with his Father.
Jim Says:
"I used to get in a bit of trouble taking those photos and had my camera confiscated twice. Once by the RAF MP's and once by an exceutive officer on the HMS Eagle. Miraculously they didn't remove the film and returned the camera. The one of the Wessex landing I had hopped out of a 'FOLLOW ME' Land Rover and had moved virtually underneath it as it was landing with fuel pump problems, bearing in mind I didn't have the luxury of a zoom lens. Same applied to the Brittania and Gannet. Really got into hot water with those."

The Silver Canberra XH175 is the last silver one of 39 Squadron, the rest had been painted in camouflage colours.
The one with the crew load testing the wings, and even engine cowling, was during a 39 Squadron detachment to Masirah, circa 1968.

Gentlemen. Tim Morgan kindly sent me this picture of our XV250 at her final resting place at the Yorkshire Air Museum, and which I thought that you might like to see: (XV250 was Huggis's crew's aircraft when they won the Fincastle in Oz in 1973.)

Photograph of WE139 in RAF MUSEUM - 139 won the England Australia air race in 1952 (?).

Allan Lacey - Variety but big on Hunters (what a great aircraft that was :-))
This is what accompanied the first photograph of the decrepit Hunter with the fuel leak! - "You can see the state of this aircraft with a mismatched tailcone a well worn paint scheme and fuel leak to boot during refueling [Auto cut off not working]. Flt lt Bob Champniss wrote on ferrying barely servicable Hunters back from Aden on the Radfan Hunter Site, I dont think he landed a servicable aircraft at any of the staging posts."
Other photographs will benefit from this additional text - "During my time on TASF and having served on two Hunter Squadrons I was deemed by the shift boss to be the "Hunter Expert" So I got to service most of the Hunters that staged through.Most of the Aden [Radfan] Hunters came through on their way back to the UK for refurbishment and I can honestly say that they were in a terrible state suffering from a lot of corrosion, their is one photo that has 208/43 sqn markings on them. Other Hunters that came through belonged to Libia, Iraq, Saudi, and I think Iran and of course a lot of UK and 2TAF Hunters. I will send some more as I come across them."
